Politics suck sometimes...

...but some things are worth fighting for. I'm not going to say much about the disappointing Prop 8 announcement from California the other day, you can read about it. What I do want to do is show my support for groups like Courage Campaign who are trying to change the tide towards equality. I can't get my head around the fact that some parts of our community are threatened by the fact that I would like to marry my beloved!

Please sign the petition. I'm not sure if non-US zip codes work but ours is 78230. I know this is only California but these issues are worth fighting wherever they appear. I promise to post something less political (and probably edible) soon!

Stupid Prop 8. Everyone has the right to marry someone who drives them crazy!

It's discrimination and it's wrong. The arguments for it are flawed. But for some reason I expect to be governed rationally! Silly me!

PS And the failure of governments all over the world is denying me some really excellent opportunities to wear pretty frock, buy outrageous presents, and cry like a baby at the exchange of vows of people I love.

Some computer is now probably looking for me at 78230. I can't see how formalising a loving long-term relationship can be wrong in anyone's system.

Can't resist "corsheri". That must be something to do with trying to pull up old-fashioned, constrictive underwear while mildly intoxicated.

I would like to get those government people and give them a huge shake when they come up this this stupid Prop 8 that you could pick holes in it. Would these people like to live together with their spouse, yet apart at the same time. Hang in there, not so sure all the people I put on the email will thank me, but at least I can live in my loving marriage, so why not give you both the same opportunity, and be a real family.

Think I need a soap-box :-D

We are with you all the way Jac (and Jo). These zealots are messing up the world and causing more problems and division. What are they frightened of? Bigotry is alive and well in 2009, what happened to America being the land of the free? You are able to bear arms, but not marry the one you love, doesn't make sense to me.

Yet again the law is way behind real community attitudes - and even though it keeps happening I keep feeling shocked - but it does add to motivation to keep campaigning. I hope there is a HUGE backlash so the pollies have to start worrying about their own futures.

Hey Big A - your definition of corsheri is fabulous! I too used 78230 - might sign again from the Deeper South, different email - let them look!

Hurrah for New Hampshire! I note that they just became the sixth state to recognise equal rights to marriage.
