Anyway, what a cake! And I think the cupcakes are terrific too! I hope you don't mind that I will using both as inspo for mine... feeling daunted. -LexiAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16284368648026725636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21563252.post-60201822663700728842013-09-17T10:24:07.017+10:002013-09-17T10:24:07.017+10:00Hi Linda,

Then I drew the basic bird shape on paper and made a template to cut the general shape out. I completely cheated abd bought the icing in a box that you roll out - but not marzipan! It is just unflavoured white stuff. Cover the cake in a layer of jam to help the icing stick, drape the rolled out layer over and then shape it all close (and cut a wing out of spare rolled icing).

The beak is liquorice straps cut up and the crest is made out of banana lollies cut down the middle and flattened a bit!

Simple :) Thanks for visiting. x JacJachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05612475942451185685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21563252.post-48165410337847932882013-09-15T21:09:25.705+10:002013-09-15T21:09:25.705+10:00Hi. I have a few wild ones visit daily for a feed. I'm originally from Canada and had a pet one over there but immigrated to Australia a sadly could not bring him. My son has taken a liking to watching them too and his first birthday is coming up soon so I wanted to make him a cockatoo cake. I googled images and yours came up and I love it! I was wondering if u had any tips on how u did it?? What did u use for the beak? Is it fondant icing?
Hope u can get back to me. Thanks.
